This module will contextualise studio practice, and enable the student to acquire and develop appropriate academic skills that will enable them to succeed in their chosen field of study.
The module will cover the process of identifying potential sources of research information, of critical analysis and evaluation of sources, and the identification of questions/issues arising from research. It will generate starting points in order that the student may identify contextual themes relating to their studio practice. Support for essay writing and associated study skills will be offered.
The student will undertake a piece of work in relation to their research interests and area of studio practice.
This module will draw on a wide range of learning and teaching methods including workshops, group activities and tutorials to support students in researching areas of interest and strength in their studio practice.

A portfolio comprising research, sources analysis, essay (or equivalent) and evaluation.
